FNaF: Ultimate Custom Night extends franchise with free spin-off – Tech News

Just when you thought Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon might have retired the franchise for good, along comes another surprise release for the wildly popular jump-scare series.

With an all-star line-up that spans the series’ roster of staggering, tattered animatronic mascots, Ultimate Custom Night allows players to set up their own night guard survival scenario or complete 16 themed challenges.

New tools and equipment keep things fresh, while a promise of a nostalgic return to traditional corridor-stalking FNaF antics appeals to returning fans.

YouTube exposure helped foment FNaF as a formative survival horror experience and the game’s trailer is populated by YouTubers agog at the game’s delights.

It’s the latest entry to the survival horror series Five Nights at Freddy’s which began in 2014 and, thanks to Cawthon’s rapid iteration schedule, soon encompassed four core entries, a spin-off Sister Location, a restaurant management and horror genre mash-up Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, and the bright and cheerful FNaF World

In the tradition of those last two titles, Ultimate Custom Night is likewise free of charge, releasing for Windows PCs through the Steam platform.

Cawthon built up his experience by designing and programming over 70 other games before breaking the mould with his FNaF concept of restaurant-based survival horror, and has become known for surprising fans with immediate game releases and character backstories buried across the franchise.

A film adaptation has been backed by horror specialist Blumhouse Productions, and Cawthon has expressed his desire to create a sequel to pre-FNaF adventure game The Desolate Hope. — AFP Relaxnews
