Man hospitalised after inserting 1m-long cable into penis to relieve itch he couldn’t reach – ASEAN/East Asia

Chinese doctors removed a 1m-long cable from a man’s penis which he inserted into his urethra to relieve a raging itch caused by prostatitis (swelling of the prostate gland).

The unnamed pensioner is said to have inserted the phone charging cable up his penis to relieve the itch, on March 30, but it became tangled in his bladder.

According to a report by Chinese website Kanka News, the tangled cord started to cause bleeding when the man tried to pull it out.

He was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Prostatitis causes inflammation of the prostate gland and leads to the development of an itch in the urinary passageway.

Urologist Dr Gao Zhanfeng from the Dalian Hospital in China found the knotted cable in the bladder after a scan.

He removed the 5mm-thick cable by cutting it up in sections with a laser scalpel.

The doctor said it was fortunate that the patient did not use anything metallic, or it could have punctured his bladder.

When the man was asked if he had sterilised the cable, he said it was “roughly washed” under running water.

He also said that he had learned his lesson. – Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network
