SEREMBAN: Several areas in the eastern part of Negri Sembilan were affected by flash floods due to continuous rain since Monday night.
Most of the affected areas are in the Jempol, Kuala Pilah and Jelebu districts.
A Fire and Rescue Department official said the area hardest hit by floods was Kg Rangoi in Triang, where water levels increased by 0.5m.
“Seven houses were affected but the residents refuse to move out. Our men are still in the area and we are monitoring the situation,” he said.
Floods were also reported in Kg Sempoh, Simpang Pertang at around 1pm on Tuesday, where rescue personnel helped to evacuate 14 people, including four children and an infant.
Prior to that, another five people from two families were evacuated from their homes near SK Serting Hilir in Bahau.
Flash floods were also reported in Kg Sg Taling and Jalan Serting Tengah in Bahau and Kg Bkt Perah in Kuala Pilah.
However, the flood waters there receded within an hour.
