PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed (pic) clarified that he was called in by the police to help the investigation into 1MDB-linked funds received by the Kelantan Umno liaison.
In a statement on Thursday (Sept 20), the Jeli MP said that apart from him, several representatives from the state liaison were also called in by the police.
“I was called in to help the investigation in my capacity as the former Kelantan Umno liaison chief.
“The police conducted their task professionally. I respect the country’s laws,” he added, saying that he was issuing the statement to clarify allegations made by Tan Sri Annuar Musa that several representatives from the state liaison, including himself, were questioned by the police.
“Although I am no more with Umno, I will continue to give my full cooperation in this matter if necessary.
Earlier on Thursday, Annuar alleged that Mustapa was being investigated over some funds he had allegedly received on behalf of Umno.
The Umno secretary-general said Mustapa was among several Kelantan Umno officials who were questioned by the police.
“Tok Pa received a substantial amount of funds and was questioned by PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police),” he claimed.
