U.S. acts to keep Citgo operating in face of Venezuela sanctions – World


WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Treasury on Thursday extended the expiration date of a license allowing U.S. refiner Citgo Petroleum Corp to maintain operations based on long-term plans and contracts, despite sanctions against its parent, Venezuelan state-run energy firm Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., or PDVSA.

“This extension will further enable CITGO’s ongoing operations while prohibiting any benefit from flowing back to the illegitimate Maduro regime,” an unnamed Treasury spokesperson said in a statement.
